DIY Scrub and Polish for Luscious Lips

Whether you drink lots of fluids or too little, use lip balm often or not, there are times when your lips will still chap and flake. So, here’s a recipe for a lip scrub and another for a lip polish that you can easily whip up in less than 10 minutes each πŸ˜‰

btySweet Orange Cocoa Butter Lip Scrub

What you’ll need:

  1. 5g of Cocoa Butter
  2. 20g of Organic Cane Sugar (Soft Brown Sugar or regular White Sugar works too!)
  3. 5ml of Grape Seed Oil
  4. 2 drops of Sweet Orange Essential Oil
  5. Glass Beaker
  6. Small Mixing Bowl
  7. Stirrer
  8. Kitchen Scale
  9. 30g Aluminium Jar

Instructions

  1. Using a kitchen scale, measure 5g of cocoa butter. Melt it in the microwave (using the double boiler method is fine too).
  2. With a beaker, measure 5ml of grape seed oil and add it in to the melted cocoa butter. Stir to blend.
  3. Allow the melted butter and grape seed oil mixture to cool slightly before adding in 20g of Organic Cane Sugar. Mix the ingredients.
  4. Add in 2 drops of sweet orange essential oil. Mix again.
  5. Scoop the scrub into a 30g Aluminium Jar. It’s now ready to be used!

  2. Organic Cane Sugar is a natural humectant (draws moisture from surroundings to skin) and is less abrasive on the skin. Contains calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium, which feeds and replenishes your skin, and is also a natural source of glycolic acid (effectively removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells, dirt and oils in clogged pores).
  3. Grape Seed Oil is a light carrier oil suitable for many skin types. Noted to be able to improve skin’s moisture and softness.
  4. Sweet Orange Essential Oil is a mood boosting oil that can help maintain the health, appearance, and texture of skin by promoting clarity, radiance, and smoothness.

btyHoney Lip Polish

What you’ll need:

  1. 20g of Shea Butter
  2. 10g of Organic Longan Honey
  3. Small Mixing Bowl
  4. Stirrer
  5. Kitchen Scale
  6. 30g Aluminium Jar

Instructions

  1. Using a kitchen scale, measure 20g of refined shea butter. Soften it by using the stirrer to mash it up.
  2. Weigh 10g of organic longan honey and add it to the softened shea butter.
  3. Mix the ingredients until they’re blended.
  4. Scoop the lip polish into a 30g Aluminium Jar. It’s now ready to be used!
