Paper more than Plastic – Why we switched to paper tape and recycled newsprint paper for packing

Hi Crafters!

As mentioned in our previous post ‘Craftiviti’s Heading in a New Direction’, we mentioned that we’re placing priority on “spreading wellness for the community and environment by being the hub of knowledge and providing globally certified ingredients and tools to easily handmake personal care products”. One of the things we’ve done so far as part of this is the launch of Crafti-Express.

Another change we’ve implemented is the use of gummed paper tape and recycled newsprint paper for packing orders to be delivered to your doorstep. This is done in effort to reduce plastic waste from our end, whenever possible.

Truthfully, it takes more effort for green packaging since plastic tapes and bubble wraps are super convenient, cheaper and provide better protection for deliveries. It’s a battle between ensuring that your purchases don’t break during delivery and trying our best to reduce as much non-biodegradable or non-recyclable waste from our end.

Nevertheless, we felt the urgent need to make this change after learning that waste from the ecommerce industry is growing rapidly.

Both paper tape and recycled newsprint paper are biodegradable and 100% recyclable. This makes them the perfect environmentally-friendly alternative to standard plastic cellotape and bubble wraps. They’re not entirely ideal yet but we’re constantly on the lookout for better packaging, for both the environment and the people.

Stay tuned for our next blog post on more things we’ve done as part of our new direction ❤️️
